The French Banking Federation opens a representative office in Frankfurt

On 1 July, the French Banking Federation (FBF) will be present in Frankfurt through its newly opened representative office alongside the European Banking Federation. This office will be made available to all the members of the FBF.

Frankfurt has become a new banking centre, with the headquarters of the ECB and supervisory institutions in place as part of the Banking Union. A total of 123 of the largest Euro-zone banks are directly supervised from Frankfurt, including 10 French entities.

One of the priority missions of the French Banking Federation under its 2015-2017 strategic plan is to promote the banking profession in European and International decision making centres.

The FBF has already established ties in Frankfurt with ECB representatives and maintains frequent dialogue on prudential and supervisory subjects in order to contribute to the security and stability of the European banking system. Thirteen years after opening its Brussels office, the FBF is adapting to the new geography of the European banking landscape.

Marie-Anne Barbat-Layani, Chief Executive Officer of the FBF, states: "Regulatory and supervisory issues relating to the banking industry are at the core of the French Banking Federation's action. Promoting the French banking model in European and international organizations is a key focus for us".
